Preteni vs Stoica

An excellent display and victory over Guy Pacome Assi at Cro Cop Final Fight last year in March earned Split-born Agron Preteni a match in the K-1 WGP Final in Zagreb Arena. Preteni, one of the best Croatian fighters in the weight class up to 95 kg, will be a protagonist in one of the super fights on March 15 against the excellent Romanian Andrei Stoica.

The 25-year-old Romanian has had 33 professional fights in his career with 29 wins and only 3 losses. Nineteen of his matches ended in a knockout or TKO. We had the opportunity to watch Stoica late last year when he defeated Croatian Toni Milanović via decision at a SuperKombat event in Arad.

Preteni, on the other hand, has a record of no less than 57 wins and only 10 losses in his professional career and has been considered one of Croatia's top fighters for a number of years now. In 2009 he won the title of the world kickboxing champion, and a year later he triumphed at the European Championship in Savate boxing.

"Of course it's every kickboxer's dream – just like box fighters dream of going to the Olympics, our dream is to participate in the K-1 WGP Final… I'm still relatively young, so I hope I'll take part in the final eight tournament someday, but even this match in Zagreb is a dream come true for me," Preteni commented on his participation in the Zagreb event and added a few words about Stoica.

"I know him very well because we've often fought at the same events. I'm aware that he is the favorite, since that's the general air and atmosphere before the match, but to be honest, I even prefer it. I'll prepare to my maximum, and I'm sure I have the weapons to beat him. I like it when people see me as the underdog."
