Brave CF 24: London
On Thursday evening, the Copper Box Arena in London will play host to Bahrain based BRAVE Combat Federation’s first venture on English soil as BRAVE CF 24 rolls into town. Fans of BRAVE CF will be well aware that the promotion have previously visited UK shores when BRAVE 13 took place in Belfast last year.
Billed as an exclusive, invite-only event, those confirmed to be in attendance for the illustrious evening of MMA in London include Dan Hardy, Jimi Manuwa, Artem Lobov, Paul Daley, Brad Pickett, Aaron Chalmers, Chris Eubank Jr., Chris Eubank Sr, to name but a few.
With incredibly ambitious statements, if not entirely correct, such as “the most global exposure London MMA will have ever witnessed”, you can’t deny that Brave CF mean business and are here to put on a show.
Barely three-years-old as a promotion, BRAVE have put on shows all around the world including such far flung places as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia. Founded with the patronage of Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the BRAVE goal is simple. To unite the world through the sports of Mixed Martial Arts. With financial backing and global exposure, BRAVE CF 24 is the next stepping stone on the promotions quest to continue with their goal.
With seven fights on the card, the main event sees featherweight champion Bubba Jenkins defend his belt against the experienced Brazilian, Lucas Martins. Born in Germany to a US military family, former Bellator man Jenkins is a NCAA wrestling champion and comes into this fight on a two-fight win streak after beating Elias Boudegzdame by unanimous decision on his promotional debut with Brave and a third-round KO over Diego Marlon at ACB 70 in Sheffield in 2017.
Jenkin’s opponent on Saturday night is twenty-four fight veteran, Lucan Martins. As the former BRAVE CF lightweight interim champion, Martins was the first man to beat current lightweight champion Luan Santiago. With seven fights in the UFC on his fight record, Martins will prove a very tricky customer for Jenkins on Thursday night. Martins will be looking to get back to winning ways as he comes into this one on the back of a first-round TKO defeat against Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady at BRAVE 18 last November.
The co-main event features SBG Ireland’s Cian Cowley and Northern Irish based Polish lightweight Maciej Gierszewski. As a bronze medallist in the IMMAF amateur world championships, Cowley also has multiple national titles in Muay Thai and kickboxing. With a professional record of 2-2, Cowley will be making his fourth appearance for BRAVE on Thursday night and comes into his fight with Gierszewski on the back of a split decision defeat to John Brewin at BRAVE CF 22 in the Philippines.
Facing him on Thursday night is The Magic Man, Maciej Gierszewski. With a professional record of 5-4, all five of Gierszewski victories have come by way of TKO or KO. With appearances on BAMMA, Cage Warriors and Bellator shows throughout the UK, Gierszewski fights out of IFS Northern Ireland in Belfast and comes into his fight with Cowley on the back of a second-round TKO victory over Sergiusz Uzarek at Wieczór Walk SWD 4 in Kraków, Poland back in May.
The full seven fight card will be shown live and exclusively on Brave TV on Thursday 25th July from 6pm.
