Pam Sorenson vs Kaitlin Young
Invicta Fighting Championships hosted Invicta FC 36 last night, headlined by the featherweight championship bout between Pam “Bam” Sorenson and “The Striking Viking” Kaitlin Young.
On the eight-fight card, we only saw two finishes as Emily Ducote stopped Janaisa Morandin in the first round by TKO and Caitlin Sammons submitted Chantel Coates by rear-naked choke late on in the second round of their flyweight bout. Ironically, Morandin and Coates were the only fighters to miss weight prior to their respective Invicta FC 36 showdowns.
In the main event, Pam Sorenson came out victorious against Kaitlin Young after a dominating five round encounter for the featherweight title. Sorenson secured the title by unanimous decision with the judges scoring the fight 50-44, 49-45, 48-45 in favour of the 33-year-old Minneapolis fighter who was defeated in her previous attempt at the vacant title when she lost to Felicia Spencer by rear-naked choke in November last year.
The eight-fight card streamed live and exclusively on UFC FIGHT PASS from Memorial Hall in Kansas City.
