Jury vs Henderson confirmed for Bellator 227
Bellator have confirmed that new signing Myles Jury will make his promotion debut with a mouth-watering clash against Benson Henderson on Friday 27th September. Billed as the main event for Bellator 227 in Dublin Ireland, Jury jumps straight into main event territory in what is shaping up to be another sensational European event.
As with the London card last month, it has been confirmed that there will be a split with the card with the Bellator 227 portion airing on Sky Sports in the UK and the Bellator Dublin part of the event being shown via the Bellator app and live and exclusive on Channel 5 from 10pm.
With a combined total of 57 professional fights between them, the Dublin fans will be in for a treat when Jury and Henderson square off in September. Having only signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator on the 18th July, the promotion has wasted no time in announcing the fight which will see Jury return to lightweight.
As a 12-fight UFC veteran, Jury has notable victories over Diego Sanchez and Michael Johnson to his name, as well as facing the likes of Donald Cerrone, Charles Oliveira and Chad Mendes.
In Benson Henderson, Myles Jury will be facing a man who has been there and done that. As the former UFC and WEC lightweight champion, Henderson has seen off the likes of Donald Cerrone (twice), Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal and Frankie Edgar (twice) in an career that has spanned over twelve years. In what will be Henderson’s eighth fight since signing with Bellator, the 35-year-old BJJ and Taekwondo black belt is currently riding a four-fight win streak.
With two more fights to be annouced for the 227 section of the card, Bellator 227/Bellator Dublin takes place on Friday 27th September from the 3Arena.
