Opening round drawn for RIZIN Lightweight Grand Prix

RIZIN Lightweight Grand Prix

The opening round of fights in the RIZIN Fighting World GP 2019 were drawn earlier today ahead of the tournament kick off on October 12 at the Edion Arena in Osaka. As reported last week, the eight participants were announced and today, RIZIN FF held the draw to determine the match-ups for the opening round.

Tatsuya Kawajiri, Hiroto Uesako and Roberto de Souza, who all reside in Japan, attended the event while Patricky Freire, Johnny Case, Luiz Gustavo, Damien Brown and Tofiq Musaev joined in via skype.

The opening round of fights were confirmed as follows:

Tofiq Musaev (15-3) vs Damien Brown (19-2)

Johnny Case (26-6-1) vs Roberto de Souza (9-0)

Patricky Freire (21-8) vs Tatsuya Kawajiri (37-13-2)

Luiz Gustavo (9-1) vs Hiroto Uesako (16-7)

Following the completion of the four quarter final fights, RIZIN FF announced that they will hold another draw to determine the one night four man tournament bracket, which will take place on New Year’s Eve.
