Phil De Fries to take on Damian Grabowski at KSW50
KSW today announced the main event for their landmark KSW50 card at The SSE Arena in London on Saturday 14th September. Phil De Fries (18-6-1) will take on The Polish Pitbull, Damian Grabowski (22-5), in what will be De Fries’ third defence of the KSW heavyweight title.
Former UFC man, De Fries, took KSW heavyweight gold when he beat Michał Andryszak by 1st round TKO at KSW 43: Soldić vs. Du Plessis in April of last year. Currently on a 5-fight winning streak, De Fries has twice successfully defended his KSW title with victories over Karol Bedorf and Tomasz Narkun.
The next challenger for the champion will be UFC and Bellator veteran, Damian Grabowski. After losing his 3-fights in the UFC against Derrick Lewis, Anthony Lewis and Chase Sherman, Grabowski was subsequently released by the promotion. Since his release, The Polish Pitbull has bounced back with wins against Jose Rodrigo Guelke at FEN 22 and Karol Bedorf at KSW 49: Soldić vs. Kaszubowski in May this year.
The only other confirmed fight for KSW 50 to date is a lightweight clash between Norman Parke and Marian Ziółkowski.
