Will Fleury added to Bellator Dublin card
It was earlier announced by the Irish Mirror that middleweight Will Fleury (6-1) has been added to the Bellator Dublin card taking place on Friday 27th September.
Facing unbeaten Norbert Novenyi (3-0) in the prelims, many had hoped for a match-up with Fabian Edwards to be added to the already stacked card, but the fight didn’t materialise at this stage. Both Fleury and Edwards have expressed their interest in fighting each other but for now any potential pairing will take a back burner as Fleury faces a potentially tough encounter with the Hungarian born, Novenyi.
Fighting out of London Shootfighters, Novenyi will be making his third Bellator appearance when he travels to enemy territory to face Fleury next month. With three submissions out of three in his professional career, Vovenyi last competed at Bellator 218: Sanchez vs. Karakhanyan 2 in March where he scored a second-round arm triangle choke victory over William Lavine.
SBG Ireland man, Will Fleury is a man on a mission as he looks to extend his current two-fight win streak, which includes his first appearance on US soil when he beat Antonio Jones at Bellator 224: Budd v Rubin in Thackerville, Oklahoma last month.
Confidence is a must in the fight game and is something that Fleury has an abundance of. Although respectfully wary of his relatively inexperienced opponent, Fleury doesn’t expect anything less than a victory when he makes the walk to the ring at the 3Arena next month. Speaking to Donagh Corby of the Irish Mirror, Fleury aims to let Novenyi know that he’s in for a tough night by saying “This is going to be a scrap and I’m going to make it a bloody war basically… I’m going to turn up the heat.”
Bellator Dublin/Bellator 227 takes place on Friday 27th September from the 3Arena. Stay tuned for further updates and announcements.
