Mayweather on location of potential McGregor fight: ‘I would choose Moscow’
Prior to meeting with Chechnyan dictator, Floyd Mayweather made a quick stop in Moscow, where he suggested the Russian capital as an ideal location for the proposed superfight against Conor McGregor, accoring to BloodyElbow.
“At the moment we have not signed any papers,” Mayweather said during a media scrum following a boxing Masterclass. “But I hope that the match will take place in June. I want to give people the spectacle: the MMA world vs. boxing world. This fight can be organized in Moscow. I would choose to Moscow, if I were asked today.”
While the undefeated boxer showed interest in fighting in Russia – a country he never competed in professionally – that is unlikely to occur for various reasons. While the event would likely fill a stadium, it would be difficult to feature for the North American PPV market because of the significant time difference. It could also dramatically impact revenue given the state of the Russian economy.
