After delighting all MMA fans on December 7 in a crazy and magnificent contest with Mark Hunt, Bigfoot, sadly, failed the post-fight drug test. Just by virtue of failing the test he lost the 50,000$ "Fight of the Night" bonus, and he will also serve a nine-month suspension.

This will definitely mar Bigfoot's reputation, previously boosted by the "fight of the year" against Hunt, in which both fighters earned the 50,000$ bonus. Alas, there will be no bonuses or "private islands" for Bigfoot, whereas Hunt 's wallet will get thicker by another 50,000$. Additionally, the official results of the fight will be changed into a "no contest" for Silva, while Hunt will retain the draw.

The official statement from the UFC reads:

"Silva is on a medically approved regimen of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), and had been in compliance with therapeutic guidelines on all pre-fight tests performed prior to the event. The results of his test on the day of the event indicated a level of testosterone outside of allowable limit. Silva has been informed that the elevated testosterone level is a violation of the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and his Promotional Agreement with Zuffa."

Silva failed a drug test back in 2008 as well and was suspended for a year after winning the Elite XC title against Justin Eilers.

No explanation from Silva's camp regarding this case has arrived yet…
