Holm: ‘Rousey put herself in position to be criticized’
After losing her UFC bantamweight category title, Ronda Rousey was severely criticized for her fighting style that night.
Holly Holm KO’ed Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 and thus took her bantam division title. Many could barely wait for Ronda to lose but after the match she had to face many critics. Holly Holm believes it’s in a way Ronda’s fault.
“I don’t think that anybody deserves that,” Holm told Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour. “I do think that she put herself in that position. She’s even said herself that if people don’t like her style, then she doesn’t care. That’s who she is and she doesn’t claim to be anybody else. I don’t have any animosity towards her. A lot of people feel like maybe I should, but I just don’t waste energy with stuff like that.”
Although it has not been confirmed yet, Holm is to defend her title against Miesha Tate at UFC 197 and then she is to have a rematch with Rousey.
