Milanovic vs. Wilnis

One of Croatia's best young kickboxers, Toni Milanović, will also be among the fighters to participate in the K-1 WGP Final in Zagreb. The Split-born fighter will feature in the super fight program, facing the excellent Dutchman Jason Wilnis, Fight Site exclusively reports.

Milanović, former world title runner-up, introduced himself at the Cro Cop Final Fight last year where he thrilled the crowd with a great display against Sahak Parparyan, the then-reigning It's Showtime champion. Although he lost by decision, Milanović showed a more than solid resistance against one of the best fighters in the world in the 85 kg weight class.

His job in the K-1 WGP Final will be much harder, since Wilnis was the last champion of the renowned It's Showtime promotion. Wilnis is a 22-year-old striker, touted by many as one of the world's biggest talents in this category.

When asked to comment on his participation in the K-1 WGP Final, Milanović responded:

"It's every fighters dream to take part of such an event, and it's the same in my case. I'd like to thank Mr Zovko for giving me this opportunity and for believing in me. I hope I will justify his trust. Jason Wilnis is an excellent young fighter and a rising star. We're close in terms of age, but I think I'm better than him, as I will prove in this fight. May plan is to prove in the near future that I'm the best fighter in the world in this weight class."

Wilnis offered his comment on coming to Croatia and taking on Milanović:

"It's a great honor for me to be a part of this event because the K-1 WGP Final is by far the greatest and most prestigious event in the world of martial arts. I'm glad I agreed with Mr Zovko not only to this fight, but several other matchups in Croatia in 2013. I'll give my best to defeat Milanović and present myself in the best possible light."
