Dalby v Oliveira

After nearly three years away from the Octagon, Nicholas Dalby (17-3-1-1nc) will make a welcome return when he takes on Alex Oliveira (19-7-1-2nc) at UFC Fight Night: Copenhagen on Saturday 28th September.

The affable Dane makes his return to the UFC after a stint with Cage Warriors which saw him win the interim welterweight title after beating Alex Lohoré back in March. After the bloodbath that was the unified welterweight title fight with Ross Houston at Cage Warriors 106 in June, many were suggesting that Dalby should get another crack at the UFC, starting with a fight in his home country.

Fast forward just over a month and Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan broke the news to an elated Dalby that he would indeed be making his return to the UFC.

In his first stint with the promotion, Dalby beat Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos, who has since gone on a seven-fight win streak in the UFC following his loss to Dalby, and scored a draw with Darren Till in a fight that earned them both a Fight of the Night bonus. Following a promising start in the UFC, Dalby suffered three consecutive defeats which would ultimately end in his release. With his personal problems well-documented, Dalby found a new home with Cage Warriors where he had twice competed prior to his first UFC call up.

Facing Dalby in his return fight will be fifteen-fight UFC veteran, Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira. With three Performance of the Night and two Fight of the Night bonuses under his belt, Oliveira will be the perfect test for Dalby in what could very well see another bonus coming the way of both fighters. Oliveira will be coming into this fight on the back of two defeats against Mike Perry (unanimous decision) and Gunnar Nelson (rear naked choke).

UFC Fight Night: Copenhagen takes place on Saturday 28th September from the Royal Arena.
