Las Vegas, NV, (October 13, 2018) – You knew if it went to the ground, Ben Egli had a good chance of submitting his opponent.  And, guess that?  It went to the ground.

Ben Egli stunned Roberto Neves, in the beginning of the first round of a three round welterweight title fight during “FFC 31 Night of Champions” at Rio Las Vegas.  A chopping right thrown by Egli knocked Neves off balance, and eventually, down to the canvas.

Once Neves fell to the canvas, Egli pounced on top of Neves like a jackrabbit and simply did what he does best… Look for an opening, and take full advantage of it.

After the mount position was established by Egli, he began to gain more confidence and just a few moments later, following an attempted escape by Neves, Egli saw his opening at the 3:25 mark of round one and went in for the rear naked choke.

Neves quickly tapped out, giving Egli the fifth read naked choke victory of his career, and ninth win by submission.

The win improves Egli to (11-2-0), while Neves falls to (10-4-0).

With the victory Egli wins the FFC MMA Welterweight Championship.

The fight was a part of Final Fight Championship’s “FFC 31 Night of Champions”, which aired nationwide on CBS Sports Network.  The historical event featured title fights in MMA, Kickboxing and Boxing and it also marked the debut of the all-new “Fight Dome” at Rio Las Vegas.
